Includes positions dedicated to the study of architecture across all periods and places in departments of art history 1930s-present in our database of 15 universities (including all PhD granting departments). We have not included in our study the architectural historians teaching in faculties of architecture. Depending on the university, an architectural historian specialized in early modern or medieval architecture might appear under architecture or under their period or geographical designation. They will appear in the expanded list under both. For faculty teaching and researching the history of architecture whose positions were designated first and foremost as ancient, medieval, early modern, Latin American, etc. consult our expanded list (which includes current faculty in undergraduate only art history departments).
